Subscribers getting the last issue of the year will be winding down their training and hunting for the holiday — and hopefully planning for next year's training and tests. Have a look at our article on Looking Backwards and Forwards  in the Fall issue. We had a great fall season with ducks, geese, woodcock and some venison. Not much training unless you count the real thing! Our youngest got his first mallard — always a memorable retrieve! Winter training will be starting for some very soon. Even if you can't make it south, you can do a lot of finesse and maintenance training. The key is get out there with your dog and maintain conditioning above all. We'll head south for a few months once the snow flies. We encourage you all to renew as soon as you can. Plus, we'd like to hear from you on topics, issues and problems you'd like us to research and address. Please feel free to e-mail or phone us with requests for training and handling information articles. If you have needs, hundreds of others do also. Here's hoping 2012 is a great one for us all! The Fall 2011 issue mailed the middle of November. The feature article is a report on the Canadian National Retriever Championship Stake, hosted by the Manitoba Gun Dog Association, near Balmoral, Manitoba. The issue also has articles on Working Two-Sided Dogs, Judging Flyers, Planning for 2012, an update on the CNM project, a report on the 2011 HRC Grand, held in Ontario, and an interview with Canadian trainer and trialer, Al McKean, from British Columbia. We hope you find these of interest and value.

About ONLINE

Retrievers ONLINE is a Canadian publication that had generated much interest on both sides of the border! It provides the most advanced and state-of -the art information on training and handling for retrievers on the continent. It is dedicated to the retrievers that do it ONLINE and to improving retriever trialing and hunt tests by providing information on judging, handling and training. It contains detailed articles on training drills and advanced field work, including much information on training and learning theories. Over the years, it has published a wealth of information on the wise and humane use of the electric collar for training retrievers.

Importantly, it has regular articles on judging and evaluating retrievers. Articles on health and breeding provide valuable summaries of useful information for the working retriever owner. A regular feature is detailed and frank reviews of the latest books and videos related to retrievers. These include details and insights that will help you sort the wheat from the chaff.
